 "The series of books by Toby Rice Drews called
"Getting Them Sober" helped me to clearly see the difference between
the alcoholic and his/her disease. This author knows her subject. I, too, am a
recovering alcoholic but was so enmeshed with a drinking alcoholic back in
1981, when I got sober that I was at real risk of going back to drinking
because I did not want to leave my alcoholic and this meant I still sat in the
bar with him while he drank.
These books,
and in particular
Volume1 gave me the information I so desperately needed to
free myself from disease of addiction to the alcoholic. I was enabled to once
again walk with dignity. It taught me how to take care of myself better.
Ironically, as Toby Rice Drews predicts, when I started doing what she suggests
in her books... the alcoholics in my life sought recovery. This included my
former boyfriend as well as my daughter and a number of drinking buddies who
are now sober. I will be forever grateful for this tool that promotes faster
family healing and shows you how to get well. It is a must read for anyone who
loves an alcoholic or works with them in any setting...including as a counselor
or court worker."
