Self-Injury.  Need Help!

cutter-in-need:

Is it odd that when I first started cutting it was on my legs. Now that I've been doing it for awhile, I've discovered I like it on my arms better. It feels better and relieves me better than on my legs! But in all reality, if I don't want anyone to find out, I should do it in a place that no one will see. Maybe my body is telling me that I'm getting in too deep and I need help. But I'm scared of help because for the people around me, help is putting me in a mental institution. No if, ands, or buts about it and I'm not ready for that.

Has anyone else been through this?
